Leeds United have a huge game on Friday, in their journey to Premier League promotion. After last weekend, the club have almost guaranteed their future.
Leeds will move from the comforts of Elland Road to the Kassam Stadium. The Whites’ home advantage has been a big part of why they are top of the Championship. Daniel Farke’s side are not poor away from home, but it has been where they have experienced many hiccups this season.
The club will hope that they get a result to pull them away from both Burnley and Sheffield United.

Leeds face Oxford United on Friday, in another key clash to determine promotion, and ultimately, who wins the Championship. Burnley will play earlier in the day, while the Whites will be in the late kick off. Daniel Farke’s men have lost just one of their last 12 away games.
But Oxford are resilient, they have turned their home ground into a terrifying place for big teams. Gary Rowett’s side have beaten Watford, and most recently, Sheffield United at the Kassam Stadium. Before the game, the U’s boss mentioned that his team will be ready to face the challenge of Leeds United. Rowett said, speaking to Oxford United’s media team:
“We know the next game is a tough game, but we’ve shown against Sheffield United that we’re more than capable of causing those teams problems”
“That is exactly what we will try and do.”
The U’s are in 17th place in the Championship, six points above the relegation zone. Gary Rowett is set to be without his captain, Elliott Moore, who is yet to return to first team action.
What happened when Sheffield United faced Oxford United?
Oxford shocked Chris Wilder’s men when the two sides met a few weeks ago. Sheffield United came into that game unbeaten in their last five. However they were given a game by the U’s, who ended up victorious.

According to the statistics, the Blades had much more of the ball, but barely created any openings. They forced some saves from Oxford United’s keeper, but overall, they did not create anything substantial. In fact, the expected goals (xG) shows that both sides created enough to score the same number of goals.

Rowett needs to lay off the drugs. Leeds are nothing like Sheffield. We destroyed Oxford at our place. I am not expecting as big a scoreline this time away from home but Leeds are that close to promotion they can smell it and they will be going for the jugular on Friday night. Not the best time to play Leeds…if there is ever a good time
