Georginio Rutter makes his feelings clear about Leeds United fans ahead of Saturday

Georginio Rutter was a fan favourite during his time at Leeds United. Spending close one-and-a-half years at the club he knows a thing or two about playing at Elland Road.

Joining on a club record fee in January 2023, he left after failing to securing a promotion to the Premier League in 2024.

In 66 appearances for the club he scored eight times and turned provider in 18 instances. And now his recent comments will surely provoke some reactions among the fanbase.

He recently explained about his special tribute to the club. And now the Frenchman has opened up more about his time in the north west.

Speaking to The Argus, the 23-year old spoke about the time he left his former club.

“I have no idea but I understand in football when some fans are angry because you leave the team”, speaking about the passionate reactions his departure ignited.

“I understand a bit but it’s football”, he said.

An emotional goodbye for Rutter

For Rutter, meeting his teammates after making the decision to leave was an emotional one. “I know I was loving Leeds, I was loving my team-mates”, showcasing his love for the club.

“When I said ‘bye bye’ to them I was very emotional because it was a very hard decision.”

But like any professional he is prepared to excel against his old friends, “Now I have to play against them.”

“It will be great and we will see what happens”, on his reunion with the fans.

Since his departure, Rutter has shone at Brentford. In 41 appearances for the Seagulls, he has had 15 goal contributions including eight in the net. Same as his time at Leeds.
