This season, Daniel Farke revealed that Leeds United have been focusing on set pieces. The German said that the club has been working with experts and data companies to boost their efficiency from dead ball situations.
In the Championship last season, the Whites managed 13 goals from set pieces. So Leeds do have some experience when it comes to that part of the game. Daniel Farke’s side have already scored three goals from set pieces this season – two corners and a direct free kick. Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have been great with their dead ball deliveries.

Joe Rodon scored his second goal of the season during the international break. The defender scored his first goal of the campaign against Bournemouth. Graham Smyth has been talking about how Daniel Farke has done a great job making the defender a threat from set pieces.
“Farke talked about it today when he was asked about Joe Rodon, and it sounded like he was joking but then followed it up with ‘I’m not even joking’, that one of his greatest achievements was making Joe Rodon a threat from attacking set-pieces.
“When he arrived, he was a player who was very strong in the air defensively, and he makes first contact so many times in his own box and defending aerial balls, he makes first contact and gets into position to head the ball so many times in the opposition box.
“But he was just a complete 50p head and the ball would go here, there and everywhere.
“It was almost like he was a tremendous defensive asset for the opposition when he got his head on a corner. He should have had more goals last season, definitely, he scored one.
“This season, he can’t stop scoring goals now, he’s up and running, he got one on international level as well, which must have felt amazing
Leeds United could do with a few more goals this season
Daniel Farke’s side have scored just seven goals in the Premier League this season, which ranks them in the bottom half of the league. And with the team not being able to convert chances from open play, maybe adding a few goals from set pieces will be their best bet as the season goes on.
