Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has been pursuing a move for Gustavo Hamer since last summer. The German was keen on adding a dynamic player in midfield and the Sheffield United star fit the bill.
However, the bids late in the transfer window were knocked back. Chris Wilder even publicly ridiculed the attempts to sign his star player. Leeds eventually stuck with Brenden Aaronson during the season, and it ultimately paid off. But Hamer was unplayable during this campaign – winning EFL Championship Player of the Season.
With Sheffield United failing to reach the Premier League after the playoff final loss, there are now whispers that Hamer may seek a move away from the Blades.

Leeds are expected to be in the running to sign the 27-year old this summer. He has also gained some suitors from the Premier League, with Everton also being linked with a move.
Blades boss Chris Wilder has already discussed losing players after the playoff final defeat. He says the club will deal with player futures later in the summer.
Danny Hall of the Sheffield Star has revealed that Hamer’s exit is ‘by no means a foregone conclusion.’ But he also added that the midfielder is keen on testing himself at the highest level – hinting at a move to the Premier League this summer.
Leeds must seal the deal
Everything favours a move for the attacking midfielder this summer. He wants to leave, Leeds will be playing Premier League football, and the club can afford a move for the 27-year old. He would be a perfect addition to the squad, providing competition in midfield and also the number 10 role.
Hamer’s nine goals and seven assists for this Sheffield United side make him perfectly suited to a newly promoted team expected to play on the counter attack next season.
