According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Jack Harrison is yet to sign a new contract with Leeds United.
After the January window, the club decided to offer the forward a new contract according to Phil Hay. Now, over a month later, Harrison is yet to put pen to paper.
Hay broke the news that Harrison was at Leicester City’s training ground on deadline day, awaiting the go ahead on the deal. Even though the player was reluctant to leave Leeds, the club eventually pulled the plug at the last minute. Hay says the events of that day have affected Harrison and may be one of the reasons why he is yet to sign the deal:
“What I’m not prepared to do with Harrison is accept that what happened at the end of January had no impact on him at all,” he said on The Phil Hay Show.
“They’re still talking about a new contract for him. Leeds are still hopeful they can get that done.
“But I don’t think you can disregard the effect of being at another club’s training ground on deadline day, and being in the mindset that you’re about to be sold, even though, as seems perfectly apparent, Harrison didn’t want to go.”
Jack Harrison will have one year left on his deal when the summer transfer window opens. He has been a long term target of Leicester City, and was the subject of interest from Newcastle last summer.
