Harry Gray Leeds United

When the transfer window opened, Leeds United fans did not know what to expect. After the club chiefs briefed the fanbase about PSR, there was a negative feeling heading into the winter window.

But all their fears have been subsided; it looks like the 49ers will be active in the coming weeks. Leeds have already secured the signing of Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season. And that is not all, as reports indicate that a new striker could arrive at Elland Road, after David Ornstein reported that the Whites made an enquiry for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

What fans did not expect in this window was the departure of Harry Gray; his loan move surprised many at the club.

Harry Gray sends message to Leeds United fans

This week, Harry Gray completed a loan move to Rotherham United till the end of the season. The striker had spent the first part of the season playing with the club’s U18s and U21s. He often trained with the first team, but Daniel Farke has been adamant that he needed a bit more to be ready before making his debut in the Premier League.

In an interview with BBC Sport, Gray spoke on the connection he has with Leeds United and the club’s fans:

“I’m just a Leeds fan who happens to be a player. That is all it is for me, before I was in and around the club I would go to every game.

“I want to play for Leeds and this is going to help me get there.”

When asked about the fanbase following him and supporting his loan to Rotherham, Gray had this to say.

“It is really nice to hear that people have got my back, but ultimately it is up to me to show what I can do.

“It is nice to hear good things, but I have got to back it up”

Fans will appreciate these words

From all that he has said about his loan move, it is clear that Harry Gray backs himself to be the star man at Leeds United some day. And fans should really be excited at this prospect. Per reports, he pushed for the move to test himself at the first team level since he could not yet break into Daniel Farke’s side.

Gaining experience and minutes at this stage of his career is very important. It allows him to grow, and most importantly understand how the game works when you are up against full time professionals instead of fellow teenagers. Leeds fans will be hoping Harry Gray excels during this loan move and comes back to the club ready for first team action.
