Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott faces a long period on the sidelines after a challenge from Pascal Struijk forced him to be substituted for Jordan Henderson.

But the Liverpool youngster has given his verdict on whether the tackle should have been deemed a red card offence. Earlier today, we reported that Pascal Struijk had posted a heartfelt apology to Harvey Elliott on Instagram. Elliott has since responded with an Instagram comment of his own.

“Wasn’t his fault what so ever!” Elliott began. “Neither was it a red card just a freak accident but these things happn in football”. Elliot has shown wonderful professionalism for his age by admitting that the challenge wasn’t worthy of a red card and by removing any blame from Struijk himself.

If Elliott can display this level of perspective at such a young age then he will likely have a large future in the game.
