Daniel Farke has emerged as one of the most successful managers in Leeds United’s recent history. A playoff final defeat denied him promotion in his first season, but he won the Championship with 100 points in the next campaign to get Leeds back to the top tier.
Farke has his critics at Leeds despite his recent success. His previous record in the Premier League means he is on a shorter leash with the hierarchy in the top flight, but the 49ers have shown little indication that they have lost faith in him.
In fact, they backed him to stay at the end of last season when there were rumours Leeds could bring in a more Premier League-proven manager to replace the German following promotion to the top tier.
He has also remained loyal to Leeds, and there are claims that he had the chance to make a move to a Champions League club in recent days, which he snubbed to stay at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke snubbed Benfica to stay at Leeds

Benfica appointed Jose Mourinho, who was also linked with Leeds, as their new manager on Thursday, to signal his return to the Portuguese giants 25 years after he left.
They sacked Bruno Lage this week following a home defeat in the Championship, but his future was being discussed for a while, and they were looking at potential candidates.
It has emerged that Farke was one of the managers Benfica considered, but journalist Pete O’Rourke insisted that the German was never going to leave Leeds.
He stressed that Farke is completely committed to Leeds, and he is on the same page with the rest of the club hierarchy.
“No, I don’t think there was any real possibility that Daniel Farke would have walked out on Leeds despite those links with a potential move to Benfica”, O’Rourke said on Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast.
“Farke is all in at Leeds right now. He’s on the contract until 2027.
“Obviously, there were a bit of rumours earlier in the summer that maybe Leeds could move on from Daniel Farke, but they’ve stuck with the German and they’ve backed him in the transfer market as well.”
“backed him in the transfer market as well.” Ha ha ha! Is O’Rourke here all week?
