Leeds United made 10 new signings this summer as they prepared for life in the Premier League. There was significant investment in some areas of the team, with the total spend reaching close to £100million.
Most of that outlay was spent on defenders and midfielders, with some Leeds fans disappointed that the attack was overlooked in the transfer window. Two months into the new season, and the impact of some of these signings have been felt.
The standouts so far have been Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson. Longstaff was rated among the top five signings by The Athletic recently, and Stach has impressed in the heart of midfield. The German’s recent performances even lead to whispers of a potential return to the national team. Gundmundsson has slotted in perfectly at left back, a role most fans were concerned about when Junior Firpo left.

A number of the new signings however, have not featured much during this campaign. Lukas Nmecha, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Jaka Bijol in particular. James Justin has barely gotten opportunities to see the pitch since he arrived.
Leeds United legend Lucas Radebe has been speaking on Jaka Bijol, and the situation around him being on the bench so far:
“It is, absolutely, especially having Bijol here with the kind of money we have spent on him.” he told LUTV.
“For me, that is the depth you want in a team. It is a good headache for the manager.
“To have the quality, because obviously it is a long season.
“There will be suspensions, there will be injuries and when you have got a team that can compete, it works better for us.”
Leeds United man will get his opportunity
Even though Daniel Farke has stuck with his center back pairing of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, there will be opportunities for Bijol down the line. Like Radebe said, injury and suspensions could see the Slovenian get back into the lineup.
When he does get the chance to play, it will be up to him to perform and win his starting place in the side. But for now, he will have to bide his time.
