Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson has admitted that getting promoted from the Championship is not going to be easy given the relentless nature of the league.
The Whites have made a slow start to the season and are sitting ninth in the Championship table after five league games at the start of the campaign.
Leeds have been tipped as one of the automatic promotion contenders but the 1-0 defeat at home to Burnley on Saturday has piled the pressure on the team.
Daniel Farke is said to be under pressure this early in the season given his side failed at the playoff hurdle last term and the club hierarchy are more or less demanding getting back to the Premier League next year.
Aaronson also insisted that given Leeds’ stature and history, they deserve to be a top-flight team on a consistent basis.
The Leeds United star admitted that the Championship is not easy
The attacking midfielder stressed that Leeds belonged to the Premier League and that getting promoted back to the top flight was the ultimate goal.
This is Aaronson’s first season in the Championship and he conceded that he did hear from everyone that it is not an easy league to get out of.
However, the midfielder believes that if Leeds work properly as a team, they can score the points required to get promoted back to the Premier League.
“We want to get back up to the Premier League because that’s where I think this club deserves to be but I know how tough the Championship is”, Aaronson said on Sky Sports (via Leeds Live).
“I’ve heard from friends that it’s not an easy league.
“The goal is to get points and win games so we have to work well as a team.”
Aaronson returned in the summer from a loan spell in Germany but has been criticised for his lack of physicality.
