Blackpool boss Michael Appleton believes that Leeds United loanee is finally showing his potential since arriving at the club.
Appleton is full of praise for Poveda after his impressive cameo against Birmingham City. The Blackpool boss mentioned that the 22-year old has been through a frustrating spell when he was not a starter in the team but now, he’s relishing the prospect of playing more. When he came on against Birmingham, he was positive on the ball and caused problems for the Blues backline when making runs.
Appleton hinted that the youngster’s performances off the bench could lead to more minutes in the near future.
“He’s just looking to be more positive and I think he went through a spell where he wasn’t in the team and it probably got the better of him and he’s shown a lot of frustration.” he said, speaking to LancsLive .
“His attitude could have been a little bit better at times, but he’s responded well. He’s come back from that and I think the way he’s applied himself in training has rubbed off on his performances when he’s come off the bench.”
Poveda has made 9 appearances for Blackpool in the Championship this season, making only 3 starts. His fortunes may be about to change if he keeps up with the performances to impress his manager.
