Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made the bold decision of axing Patrick Bamford this summer. The striker did not make the trip go Germany for pre-season.

The German is set to make more decisions concerning some players in the squad after news this week. Farke also told Jack Harrison that he has a chance to enter his plans for next season – the news came as a shock to some fans.

Leeds are not done with their transfer business this summer, and could very well add a few names in the coming weeks.

Wolfsburg move for Josh Sargent fails

Leeds have had their eye on Josh Sargent this summer. The club have only discussed possible moves for him, but have not launched a bid yet.

Reports indicated that Wolfsburg were close to sealing a move for the striker, but the deal fell through. It is believed that Sargent chose to turn down the move at the last minute. He has since been in pre-season camp training with the Canaries.

New Norwich City manager Liam Manning has revealed that missing out on the move was tough for Sargent. He also adds that the striker is committed to staying at the club this summer:

“It is tough for Sarge. There is so much noise. I think what he has done a terrific job of is just coming in and enjoying his football. The way he put himself about in this game you could never question his focus.

“He competed, he led, and the last 10 days his impact on and off the pitch has been fantastic. I have said that to him. I’ve got a really good relationship with him and because of that I can just say to him, ‘Keep your head down and worry about your football until anything changes’. He is very much ‘all in’ on what we are doing at the moment.”

Leeds still need a striker

Last season, Daniel Farke had to rely on Joel Piroe for the whole campaign. The Dutchman featured in every league game. His backups were Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph. Bamford was unavailable for over half the campaign, and Farke chose not to play Joseph for some strange reason.

With the two possibly leaving in this window, Lukas Nmecha will be a welcomed arrival. But Leeds still need one more addition up top to add to the depth.
