With Leeds United set to complete their latest signing, there are still some questions that need to be answered at this point in the window. The club have made eight signings so far, and more could follow with over a week left till the transfer window closes.

Leeds have managed to recruit smartly, and have avoided overpaying for most of their targets. The club have walked away from deals they considered way above the valuation of their player. But the threat of PSR still looms; if Leeds are to add a few more permanent additions, some players will have to leave.

This summer, the club have seen just one permanent exit, with the rest departing on temporary deals. A lot of players remain, including some that are not in Farke’s plans: Patrick Bamford, Sam Greenwood and Illan Meslier, just to mention a few.

Beren Cross speaks on Leeds United star’s future

This week, La Liga side Villarreal have been linked with a move for club captain Pascal Struijk. No official proposal has been made, but there is a chance the Spanish club could make a bid soon. This has raised a lot of questions over the player’s future. Beren Cross of The Athletic has weighed in on if Leeds could actually sell Pascal Struijk this window.

“My assumption had always been one of Struijk, Gnonto or [Mateo] Joseph would need to be sold for an eight-figure sum that delivered a PSR boost in this window.

“However, the point was made by someone at the club, during the Germany camp, that the accounting deadline is June 30, 2026. Therefore, sales can be made in January or next June to cut the club’s cloth.

Cross then adds that it could take a significant offer to convince the club to part ways with the defender.

“That looks increasingly like the best course of action to me. Take as many of your best players into the season, give it your best shot and then make the most informed decision before next June on what you need going into 26/27.

“If a club does come in with an offer Leeds cannot reject, then that may force their hand, of course.”

The Jaka Bijol conundrum

This summer, Leeds spent around £15million to bring in Udinese center back Jaka Bijol. Looking at the Slovenian’s experience and pedigree, most expect him to become an instant starter at the club. He missed Monday’s game through suspension, but will be available this weekend. It will be interesting to see who starts when Leeds line up against Arsenal.

If Struijk somehow finds his way to the bench, then it raises a lot of questions near the end of the transfer window.
