Leeds United look like they will make use of the transfer market this summer in a variety of ways. Aside signing players from other clubs, the Whites look to be keen on some free agents.
Clubs across England have published their retained lists, giving notice of which players are set to be out of contract. As a newly promoted side, some of these names are enticing. They can provide a huge boost in experience without a transfer fee. The only downside is that some of these targets have hefty wage demands.

Leeds United could be out of race for Premier League star

Ben Jacobs recently reported that Leeds United were one of the teams interested in a deal for Wolves star Nelson Semedo. The Portuguese international looked to have said his goodbyes on the last day of the season, as his contract expires this summer. The 31-year old posted on his Instagram that he has a big decision to make this summer, hinting to a possible move away.
Now, Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has told A Bola that the club will offer the defender a new deal:
“Nelson knows that we want him. He is our captain, a player who has helped me a lot to unite the group.
“On the pitch and off the pitch. He is a quality player. He knows that we want him. I think the club has already made him an offer. We will see what happens,” Pereira continued.
Wolves have the upper hand
Leeds United will have to fight an uphill battle if they want to sign Semedo. The defender already has interest from Saudi Arabia this summer. And with Wolves having a deal on the table, Leeds could already be out of the race before it started.
It will be difficult to tempt the defender to leave a club he has already spent five seasons at. Leeds are better off looking elsewhere this summer.
