Weeks since the end of the Championship season and there has been no signs of a deal being completed by Leeds United. The Whites did released their retained list over the weekend.
Josuha Guilavogui was the only senior men’s team star confirmed to be leaving this month, alongside some academy players. Leeds listed Sam Byram and Junior Firpo among players in contract talks. Which came as a surprise because most fans thought the duo would be gone by the summer.
Firpo has been heavily linked with a move to Spain, after expressing a desire to move back to his former club Real Betis.

Leeds are heading into the Premier League next season not knowing their first choice keeper. It has been accepted within the club that Illan Meslier will leave this summer. Leeds have been linked with a host of options, but so far, none have progressed according to reports.
Aaron Ramdsale, James Trafford and Sam Johnstone are among the names linked with a move to Elland Road.
The Whites were reportedly planning a move for Liverpool’s Caomhin Kelleher. The Reds are keen to move on from him, as their latest signing Giorgi Mamardashvili returns to the club this summer. And with one year left on Kelleher’s deal, Liverpool are keen on getting a decent fee for him.
A deal for Kelleher might be disrupted soon, as The Sun report that Aston Villa have joined the race for the Ireland international. Unai Emery is in the market for a replacement for Emi Martinez, who will leave Villa Park this summer.
Move for Kelleher could be done
Waiting too long to sign players when your competition is Premier League clubs is a bad sign. If Leeds were serious, they would have worked out a deal already. Now that Aston Villa are involved, they have the upper hand – they can offer European football next season. Leeds need to decide if a move for Kelleher is worth pursuing at this time.

Far too much to pay for him Johnson a better option by far and cheaper
That last paragraph is a ridiculous statement to make. How could a deal have been worked out already? The transfer window is not open. A deal isn’t done until a contract is signed.
