“I don’t accept this“ – Daniel Farke criticizes player who lost the ball 22 times against Wolves

Many Leeds United fans called Daniel Farke out for the lineup he put out in the Fulham game. After the complaints of the Whites not being able to convert their chances, the attack selected in that game raised eye brows.

Brenden Aaronson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor started together for the first time in London. Leeds failed to score in that game, and eventually lost to an own goal. In the game against Wolves, Farke decided to name an unchanged lineup.

But the results were different this time around, as Calvert-Lewin and Okafor found themselves on the scoresheet. The Whites won their first game on the road this season at the Molineux.

Noah Okafor had a mixed performance on the game; he scored a goal but lost the ball 22 times. Daniel Farke addressed this in the press conference before the Bournemouth game. He discussed Okafor’s performance and the fact that he lost possession so many times:

“I don’t accept this [losing the ball]. It needs to be criticised. At half-time, I told Noah, great goal, well-taken goal, looks sharp in his dribblings.

“But with the back to the opponent’s goal, he has to be stronger.

“He comes from a different league, the Premier League is more physical. Sometimes he’s claiming he’s been fouled instead of adapting, being rock solid.

“It is physical. His success rate in his duels can be better.

“His end product and goal threat is good. He can keep the ball better. We speak about this, we’re honest about it.

“Naturally, he is a player who takes risks. Timing is key, when to take a risk, when to keep it.”

Winger is the direct threat Leeds have been looking for

Noah Okafor provides something a bit different from the wingers in the Leeds squad. He has incredible 1v1 ability, and can finish when provided with the opportunity as seen in the goal vs Wolves.

For the Leeds attack to thrive, they have to get the ball to him more since he can create a lot of opportunities. He can be guilty of losing the ball, but what he does with it is far more beneficial to the team.
