Leeds United had a bruising summer transfer window after getting promoted to the Premier League. They managed to bring in 10 players, moved on several personnel who were not part of the club’s plans, but ultimately ended with massive disappointment on transfer deadline day.
The Whites were aware that they needed almost a squad overhaul to build a team good enough to stay up in the Premier League. They did a good job of strengthening their defence and midfield, and the Whites have looked solid, barring the result at Arsenal, at the start of the campaign.
However, Leeds have looked short in attack, and Daniel Farke wanted to bring in at least two more forwards on transfer deadline day. However, the club failed to sign even one, once their move for Fulham winger Harry Wilson collapsed just minutes away from the end of the window.
Leeds did make some tough calls on certain players who were not part of Farke’s plans, and one of those calls has received backing from one of their former players at the end of the window.
Can you name these 10 former Leeds United midfielders?

Former Leeds United star backs the Patrick Bamford call

Leeds made a call to terminate Patrick Bamford’s contract last week after it became clear that they would not receive offers to let him go this summer.
The call was made to get his wages off their books and allow the striker to find a new club as a free agent in the coming days and weeks.
Bamford was not happy with the way his last months played out at Leeds, but Farke was clear that the forward had no future under him this season.
Former Leeds star Jon Newsome has conceded that it was the right decision, and gives Bamford a chance to start afresh somewhere else.
He also stressed that the Whites had to do it as Bamford was on a big contract, and the club needed to move his wages off their salary bill this summer.
“I’m sure Patrick is devastated, but I bet there is an element of relief”, Newsome said on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet’s deadline-day special podcast.
“He’s had injuries, a bit of stick, and now he’s got a fresh start.
“I do believe he was on monster money. I understand why the club let them go.”
Bamford is likely to drop down to the Championship
The striker is unlikely to find takers in the Premier League due to his recent injury history, but he remains a coveted forward in the Championship.
He is a proven goalscorer at that level, and Wrexham are among the clubs that are interested in snapping him up on a free transfer.
If Bamford manages to prove his fitness, an ambitious Championship club such as Wrexham will likely gamble on getting the best out of him in the second tier.
