I watched Leeds United summer transfer target – £6 million disaster for Daniel Farke

Leeds United had an interesting summer transfer window, in fact it could have been an unmitigated disaster but in the end it was a mixed bag.

When Leeds missed out on promotion, losing the play-off 1-0 to Southampton, it was speculated that the fact they missed out on the Premier League money would mean that many of their star men would be forced to leave the club to deal with financial issues.

This did come to pass to a certain degree. They lost star winger Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United and Archie Gray was snapped up by Tottenham Hotspurs, though there could be a chance that he could return to Elland Road on loan to get game time after reports emerged suggesting he could be snapped up on loan by a lower Premier League club or a Championship side.

Turning back to the summer transfer window, Leeds did have some success bringing in Largie Ramazani and Jayden Bogle, but there were some big signings Leeds missed out on.

Leeds United were one of the clubs linked with Harrison Burrows. In the end, Leeds missed out on Burrows to Sheffield United with the Blades securing a deal with Peterborough United set to be worth £6 million, and from a Leeds point of view it is an absolute disaster that he wasn’t signed.

Going into the weekend, Leeds United were behind Sheffield United in the race for promotion despite beating them at Elland Road. I opted to watch Sheffield United’s last two games where he really excelled and proved he is likely worth a lot more than £6 million.

With Leeds failing to beat Millwall, Sheffield United leapt ahead of them in the play-off race thanks to two late goals against Bristol City including the winner from Burrows.

Burrows also scored the opener the game prior against Blackburn Rovers, which in a 2-0 win also proved to be the decisive goal.

According to Football League World, he has made 20 big chances this year and 22 successful crosses whilst balancing their defence helping them to nine clean sheets. He will be key in the Sheffield derby tomorrow.
