Many Leeds United fans are anticipating the arrival of a new goalkeeper this summer. Two signings have been confirmed in this window, and yet none of them have been a shot stopper.
After the events of last season, rumours spread that Illan Meslier would seek a move away from Elland Road. The Frenchman was benched for the final seven games of the season as Leeds lifted the Championship.
When Daniel Farke was asked about the decision to make Karl Darlow first choice, he stated that he just wanted to protect Meslier. Patrick Bamford also revealed that the 25-year old was calm about the whole situation and stayed positive in the dressing room.

Illan Meslier has been linked with an exit this summer, with the club reportedly offering him to other teams in the first week of the window.
Sources in Turkey have now confirmed that there is a deal in the works. Fenerbahce have reportedly reached an agreement with both Meslier and Leeds United. The Turkish club are set to move on from their current first choice Dominik Livakovic. Meslier is expected in Istanbul this weekend to undergo his medicals. According to other reports this week, it is true that no formal offer has been made, but this move is being processed behind the scenes.
The French goalkeeper will move for a fee around £8.5million.
Finally time to move on from Meslier
Meslier started his career at Leeds brightly, his trajectory seemed unstoppable and at a point, he was in line to be France’s keeper. But for some reason, his development stalled. He kept on making basic errors and mistakes. Meslier infamously got benched by Sam Allardyce when Leeds were fighting for survival in 2023.
