Illness hits Leeds United camp ahead of Man City clash

Leeds assistant manager Rene Maric revealed after the Monaco friendly that there is an illness going around camp.

This news comes after Leeds’ defeat to Monaco in their final warm up game ahead of the return to Premier League action. The Whites lost the game 4-2, despite taking the lead in the first half. Monaco scored three goals inside nine minutes to end the game at Elland Road in front of the worried Leeds fans.

The result is the least of their concern as Rene Maric revealed there is an illness outbreak in camp:

“It’s very individual obviously, we have some illness going around so you’ll have to check who is coming back into training. Rodrigo had tightness and again, if it’s a friendly you don’t risk these things. We think that most of them will be ready for Man City but we’re not 100% sure, but, it’s looking good. Illness is day by day, you know.”

Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison are said to be among the players suffering from the illness. On Meslier, Maric said the keeper is not at 100% yet:

“It’s similar to the other guys that I said it’s a day to day basis. I believe he’ll be fit, yes.”

Leeds face Manchester City on 28th December when the Premier League resumes.
