Is this Leeds United’s new left-back?

As we ease into the summer transfer window, all of the talk is of who Leeds United’s new left-back could be and on Saturday night in Germany we may have got a glimpse into the future.

Well, that’s if you listen to the club’s supporters who were blown away by the performance of Germany left-back Robin Gosens as he delivered a superb individual display in his country’s 4-2 win over Portugal in Munich.

Leeds fans watching the Euro 2020 clash on Saturday night were quick to highlight on social media the Whites’ need for a new left-sided defender as Gosens scored one and assisted two in the German’s impressive victory over the holders.

The 26-year-old has played for Serie A outfit Atalanta since 2017 and his consistency in Italy earned him a spot in Germany’s starting line-up less than a year ago, a position he has made his own ever since.

With current Leeds left-back Ezgjan Alioski still not signing a new contract, Gosens’ all-action style would certainly go down well at Elland Road but there may be some stumbling blocks, notably a hefty transfer fee and high wage demands.

Still, United’s ambitious supporters didn’t waste an opportunity to make the club’s hierarchy aware of Gosens talents during his latest international display, filling their Twitter feeds with a clear message to “Get Gosens at Leeds”.
