Since the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal, Leeds United have improved massively. In their last few games, they have shown a competitive fighting spirit.
Their late defeat to Fulham did not derail their form, and they bounced back with a shock win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. This weekend, they faced a tough Bournemouth side who had not lost a game since the first week of the season, and nearly got a result.
It took a late equalizer in added time for Andoni Iraola’s men to leave Elland Road with a point. After the game, the Cherries boss gave high praise to Leeds United.

Speaking to Leeds United’s YouTube channel after the Bournemouth results, Sean Longstaff said the team needs a bit of belief to win games like this. The Whites had the game in their hands but let it slip when they conceded a late equalizer.
“I thought the lads need to believe in themselves a little bit more. I know it’s the Premier League and stuff, but some of the lads need to realise how good they are and that they’re more than capable of playing at this level”
Longstaff then urged his teammates that facing big sides like Bournemouth should not matter, as they are ‘just another footballer’
“And yeah, we know Bournemouth press well, but ultimately it’s just another footballer running at you. It doesn’t matter who they are.
“So, I think you can have a little bit more composure – that’s everyone, me included – and a little bit more bravery maybe.
“And yeah, like I said, it was just more to try and calm everyone down and get through to halftime, and then we know we can sort of put things right.
“And I thought we’re pretty good in the game. I thought obviously better in the second half than the first half.”
Daniel Farke knows how to beat teams above Leeds’ level
This season, Daniel Farke has said a lot about mixing it up, especially when Leeds are up against opponents with more quality. After the draw on Saturday, the Leeds boss spoke in depth on how his side can turn these close results into wins and draws at the top level.
According to Farke, this squad cannot outperform or play better than a lot of other teams in the league, but with organization and physicality they stand a chance.
