Leeds United have finally confirmed the signing of winger Dan James, 2 and a half years on from the infamous deadline day debacle that led to the transfer falling through.
Leeds had agreed a deal to sign James in January 2019, only for Swansea to stop answering the phone when it was time to confirm the transfer. James would later sign for Manchester United in the summer of 2019. But now, he’s officially a Leeds United player after completing the £25 million switch across the pennines.
“It happened very quick, got my head around it and this is where I want to be. It feels brilliant” James declared to Sky Sports News following the transfer. “we made a couple of jokes in the board room – it feels like deja vu.”
James is clearly seeing the funny side to all of this, as are most Leeds fans on social media. The price tag is a hefty one, but Leeds will be hoping the 23 year old can prove that he was worth every penny. Marcelo Bielsa clearly believes he has all the tools to become a star.
