Facundo Buonanotte was Leeds United’s only January signing. Fans were excited that the team showed some ambition after what happened last year.
And there were reports that the Whites would follow up Buonanotte’s signing with Jorgen Strand Larsen. Unfortunately, a deal for the former Wolves striker did not happen due to PSR constraints. Buonanotte has not had a great start to life at Leeds United, and has been average when he has seen minutes on the pitch. The midfielder has been left out of recent matchday squads.

Brighton boss backs Daniel Farke’s stance on Facundo Buonanotte
Daniel Farke mentioned that it was a ”technical” decision to omit the Argentine. And in the club’s last FA Cup triumph, Facundo Buonanotte was an unused sub when the team had wrapped up a 3-0 win. This week, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler spoke on the midfielder who seems to be struggling out on loan.
“I think every experience for players is important, no matter if they play or not.”
“Of course, if you give a player a loan, it’s always helpful that they play, but in the end we can’t make the decision.
“It’s the other clubs who will make the decision and therefore the coach, Daniel Farke, will have a reason why he’s not playing, and then it’s about the player to understand what he needs to improve to get into the team.
“What value he needs to show in every training session, that he is an option for the coach.
“And I think that’s also a learning process for the player, especially for a young player like Buonanotte.
“I know that he has incredible potential and a lot of talent, but that’s not everything in the Premier League.
“It’s about work ethic, it’s about being hard to yourself, it’s about suffering if you’re not playing, trying to understand and reflect your own behaviour.”

No way back for January signing
Reports these past few weeks have all pointed to one thing – Facundo Buonanotte will not remain at Elland Road past this summer. Daniel Farke is not a big fan of the midfielder, and rarely uses him. And as things stand, the 49ers would not be willing to splash the cash on a player who cannot even get minutes in the first team of a club battling relegation. The club thought the Argentine was the key to adding quality to the attack, but things have gone so poorly. Many fans will point to the fact that any other signing in January would have turned out better than this scenario.
