Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made mention that the team ‘failed in both boxes’ in the loss to Burnley this weekend. But the mistakes have continued over a long period.
There have been many games since September that Leeds have dropped points because of cheap errors. Failing to mark a run at the far post saw Bournemouth equalize, and Pascal Struijk being slow to react let Spurs score their first goal a few weeks ago. Struijk and Rodon were caught napping as Lesley Ugochukwu darted between the two to score the first goal at Turf Moor.

Jamie Carragher analyses Karl Darlow ‘error’ for Burnley goal

On the second goal that sealed the game for the Clarets, all fingers point to Karl Darlow. Burnley goalscorer Luom Tchaouna even mentioned that he caught the keeper unaware before he unleashed his long range drive. That was not the only goal Darlow was responsible for as Jamie Carragher pointed out on Monday Night Football. The former Premier League defender noted that the ‘poor’ pass by the keeper indirectly setup the first goal for Burnley:
“But what’s interesting is a lot of the time this season, we haven’t seen teams, especially the promoted teams, make mistakes sort of round the back, trying to play from the back.
“So it was interesting the fact that this actual goal comes from a poor pass.
“Now people may be critical and saying, these teams shouldn’t be playing from the back.
We wanted to show the first few clips of Karl Darlow to actually show he’s more than competent with the ball. And that actually is just a poor pass and he’d be really disappointed with that.”
Leeds United new boy not the best with his feet either
With everything pointing to Lucas Perri taking back his position against West Ham, it is interesting to note that the Brazilian is not the best with the ball at his feet. In fact, Gary Neville repeatedly criticised Perri’s distribution in the first few games of the season. With how Leeds have played well and fluidly with Darlow in goal for the last few games, it will be interesting to see what sort of influence Perri returning between the sticks will bring.
