Jamie Carragher names the main person behind Leeds United’s upturn in form

Daniel Farke mentioned over a month ago that the narrative changes at Leeds United every week. The past few games, every bit of news that came out of Elland Road was about sacking the manager.

It did not help that Leeds had a difficult schedule where they had to face top half opposition in consecutive games. It looks like the Whites have turned things around recently – getting four points from a possible nine in their last few games. The team looks much better now that Farke’s tactical switch has worked. James Maddison, who played under the German at Norwich, said he is not surprised that the Leeds boss found a solution in the games against Chelsea and Liverpool.

Jamie Carragher give huge credit to Leeds United boss Daniel Farke

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who was analysing this weekend’s games on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, says a lot of credit for this turnaround should go to Daniel Farke:

“We talk about teams getting results and how much is down to the manager. I think the upturn in form for Leeds is a lot down to the manager.

“It was a huge difference in the second half against Manchester City with the change of system, and they took that confidence on.

“We know Leeds United were the team that came up from the Championship who played the best football, but that style certainly changed here.

“It’s given them a greater threat at set-pieces and I think Leeds fans were calling for this a little bit more, to be a bit more direct over these last few weeks when you consider how many 6 foot players they brought in during the summer.”

Leeds boss can be the man to lead the club to safety

This season Farke has shown that he is capable of leading this club even though there were doubts before a ball was kicked. This past week showed that the players at the club also want to fight for him.

If between now and January, the Whites can put a few more points on the board, then surviving relegation could be a reality. Their losing streak might have caused fans to lose confidence, but based on the past week, they can make their goal. Daniel Farke will need to keep finding new ways to keep the team afloat, and if January comes around, some transfers will be needed to strengthen the squad.
