Leeds United made 10 signings in the summer transfer window, but how they operated at the transfer deadline makes it feel like the window was not complete.
Especially as Daniel Farke asked for attacking players to bolster the squad. The Leeds boss had been asking for the club to sign quality up top since pre-season. The Whites have brought in attackers in the form of Lukas Nmecha, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Many expected Leeds to be active on deadline day, but the only thing that happened was a failed move for Fulham star Harry Wilson.

According to Caught Offside, Leeds are one of many clubs eyeing a move for Nico O’Reilly in January. The Manchester City midfielder has featured in two of the club’s three league games this season. Lyon, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen are said to be the other suitors involved.
O’Reilly had five goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances last season.
The youngster has been used at left back and in attacking midfield by Pep Guardiola. But if he does join Leeds, he is more likely to play in the middle of the park.
What Robbie Evans has said about the January window
Going into the January window will be a very interesting prospect, considering that Leeds managing director said that ideally, the team would avoid making any moves in the winter window:
“But our goal is to avoid January, if possible.
“So there’s a reason we didn’t do a big thing in January last year or the year before. The goal is to be done early.
“And actually we got all of our core guys done before the season even began, for that reason. So not just before deadline day, but actually before August was the goal with the key ones.
“And so it’s there, but we don’t see using free agency as a priority because there’s only a handful of players we felt were good enough to begin with, and the pool obviously shrinks dramatically when you go from the entirety of the window, or the players in the window to the handful of free agents that are available.”
