Javi Gracia hints at strike partnership going forward

In Monday’s press conference ahead of the Nottingham Forest game, Javi Gracia has hinted to a new strike partnership up front.

Leeds face Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Tuesday and then  Crystal Palace at home on Sunday. The Spanish coach defined Bamford’s role in his system and added that an adjustment may be made with Rodrigo returning to full fitness.

Gracia has preferred a 4-2-3-1 system since he arrived at Elland Road. Georginio Rutter and Patrick Bamford have led the line since the Spaniard took over, with Rodrigo Moreno only fit enough to come off the bench. Brenden Aaronson led the line against Arsenal this weekend, in a tactical change which saw Leeds hold Arsenal before the dubious penalty was awarded.

With the upcoming fixtures, Gracia has hinted that he could pair Bamford and Rodrigo up top:

“In my opinion, Patrick is a clear no.9 and the other strikers can play with him. We can do it with Rodrigo as a double no.9, we have different options,”

Leeds face fellow strugglers Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in successive games. Gracia will be hoping Bamford and Rodrigo will be enough firepower to secure a few points.
