Leeds United got a crucial win midweek in their aim for promotion.
On Tuesday night, the Whites secured a crucial win away from home to Middlesbrough. It was their first win in four games. After a run of three draws, Leeds fans thought their dreams of promotion were slowly fading. Daniel James came up with the goods at the Riverside stadium as his second minute strike decided the game.
James’ goal marked a bit of a worry for the club. In the last few games, there have not been a lot of goals from the players starting up top. Mateo Joseph, Joel Piroe, Brenden Aaronson and Wilfried Gnonto have scored two league goals combined since the start of March.

The lack of goals from these players have raised some concerns among fans and pundits alike. With just a handful of games to go in this campaign, not having a player in the number nine role firing is a slight concern.
In the last two games, however, Patrick Bamford has come on and made some impact. The veteran striker made a very good cameo against Luton, and was impressive on Tuesday night. Former Leeds United man Jermaine Beckford thinks Bamford should be given a chance in the team again:
“Injuries, left out, frozen out. Not quite a fully-fledged part of the squad. So when he gets his chance like today, he gives it his all. He [Bamford] and Gnonto came on to combine for a brilliant team, counter attacking goal.
“When you watch it back, the movement was pinpoint the pass was perfectly-timed, the run was perfect. But it was ruled out for offside. Such a disappointment that the linesman let us down again,” he said to LUTV.
Should Bamford be given a run in the team?
This late in the season, Bamford could provide some experience in games. But as seen against Luton and Middlesbrough, he will be better off coming from the bench. Games are to intense for him and may pass him by. Daniel Farke using him as an impact substitute may be the best way.
Then again, Farke made the bold decision to drop Illan Meslier and the results have been evident.
