Jesse Marsch was recently linked with a return to English football but that has amounted to nothing. He has continued to be the head coach of the Canadian national team and his team tasted success on Sunday night despite the American not being on the touchline to enjoy with his players.

Canada were beaten by Mexico in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Nations League and since then, Jesse Marsch has been talking about his team not getting respected by the referees.

The Canadians had a great night on Sunday when they beat their arch-rivals United States in the third play play-off, which was a massive success for the North American team.

However, Marsch had another torrid evening personally and was not on the sidelines to enjoy a big moment for his team and his time as the Canada national team head coach.

Canada scored the winning goal after Jesse Marsch was red-carded

Marsch has been talking about the referees and the perceived injustices his team have been receiving from the officials since Canada’s defeat in the semi-finals.

His fuse again blew on Sunday night when the Canada coach was visibly irate and was dismissed from the touchline in the 54th minute after he received a straight red card.

Canada’s coach stepped on the pitch to berate repeatedly the referee, Katia Itzel Garcia, for his performance. Marsch was protesting two potential missed penalty calls.

Garcia had enough after a while and decided to dismiss Marsch from the touchline by issuing a straight red card.

It didn’t affect the team and Jonathan David scored the winning goal five minutes later to help Canada finish third in the Concacaf Nations League ahead of the US.

Leeds fans will enjoy watching their former manager fumble

Marsch will go down as one of the worst managers Leeds appointed in their history and he remains a persona non-grata for the supporters at Elland Road.

While he somehow kept Leeds in the Premier League after he replaced Marcelo Biela in early 2022, in the following season the American was badly exposed.

He lasted little less than a year but by the time he was dismissed in early 2023, the damage was done and Leeds got relegated at the end of the season.

Leeds looked a less fitter team and tactically inept under Marsch and the club are still reeling from the mistake they committed by bringing in the American as Bielsa’s replacement.

While his predecessor at Elland Road is still a cult hero, March is not at all welcome at the club.
