In today’s defeat to Liverpool, Leeds faced a whopping 30 shots which is the most they’ve faced since promotion in 2020.
It was also the most Liverpool have racked up since December 2018 showing that the Whites were up against an in form Liverpool side today.
That said, United should be disappointed at the amount of chances they gave up against Liverpool’s world class front three. No side has faced more shots on target than Leeds this season and it’s a problem many believe needs fixing if Leeds want to move away from the relegation zone. Right now they have just two points from their opening four games and some supporters are getting worried.
Former Leeds star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink certainly sounded worried. He broke down Leeds’ performance and identified the ease at which they allowed Liverpool to make chances. He voiced on Sky Sports that the view that Marcelo Bielsa has to change his system against the top teams: “Leeds wanted to go forward way too quick. They looked for the killer pass too earlier and turned over possession really quickly. Leeds need to find a different way when they’re playing against the top teams. Playing against Man United away for the second time in a row they conceded five and today it was 3-0. Today they had 30 shots against and that is too much.”
