Leeds United boss Daniel Farke often makes some bold decisions concerning the team. Eventually everything paid off as the club got promoted and the team lifted the league title on the final day.
Farke is a coach who loves to stick with things even when they go wrong. It was part of this reason why Illan Meslier stayed in goal throughout the season, before his errors against Swansea forced the managers hand. The treatment of some of the summer signings were also curious – Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt barely played this season.
The Leeds boss could justify that they were kept out of the team due to form. But even when injuries hit the squad, he chose to play others ahead of Schmidt and Ramazani.

Leeds United to find out Joe Gelhardt future

Farke’s team selection was one of the reasons Joe Gelhardt pushed for a move in January. The forward played a total of 10 minutes until January, when he joined Hull City on loan. Gelhardt later revealed that he had a conversation with Daniel Farke before he made the loan move.
The 23-year old had a decent spell with the Tigers – five goals in 19 starts. He was one of the club’s best players as they managed to survive relegation. There were reports that Hull would prefer to sign Gelhardt for another season, or even permanently. But a possible managerial change could scupper the deal.
Now, Tigers boss Ruben Selles has come out to speak on the future of the Leeds United star:
“I just think that it has been a pleasure for us to have Joe. His way to work has been exceptional.
“His qualities and abilities are exactly what you expect from a player, but also from a person in our environment. I will be happy if he can stay with us for another season, but there are a lot of things that need to be discussed, not only my intention.”
Leeds should hope Gelhardt deal goes through
Leeds United and Joe Gelhardt are at a crossroads right now. The forward now knows he has no future in the first team, and Daniel Fark has shown he is not a fan of the player. The best outcome would be Hull City signing Gelhardt on a permanent deal, and Leeds recouping the transfer fee they spent on him long ago.
