After winning the EFL Championship Goal of the Month award, Leeds striker Joel Piroe says his only focus this season is winning the league.
The summer signings has left his mark on the team, having already scored five goals in 11 games so far. His partnership with Georginio Rutter has been a delight to watch at Elland Road this season.
Upon receiving the award, the 24-year old was happy to praise his teammates for their effort:
“I’m very happy, it’s always nice to score goals and even better to get rewarded for it.
“We worked on many combinations in training, between myself and Georgi and it went perfect that time. It was like a perfect team goal.”
Piroe’s goal against Milwall won the Goal of the Month award for September – a lovely team effort that saw Rutter and Gnonto combine with the striker to put the ball in the net. But the Dutchman says he’s only focused on one thing this season:
“I want to score as many goals as possible and to get promoted. It’s nice to win awards like this and they’re always welcome, but it’s not the main goal.”
Leeds return to action when they face Daniel Farke’s old club Norwich City away from home.
