Judgement of Daniel Farke called into question in Germany

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke and his judgement on players has come under attack in Germany following Nathan Ngoumou’s failures at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Whites’ slow start to the season has piled pressure on the Leeds manager with his team now sitting ninth in the Championship table after five games.

Last season’s playoff final heartbreak means the Leeds hierarchy are putting extra pressure on Farke to get them back to the Premier League at the end of the ongoing campaign.

There is already talk over his future at Elland Road if results don’t improve soon and Farke is now facing snipes from his homeland for mistakes he committed in Germany.

German daily Rheinische Post (relayed by Sport Witness) has called into question Farke’s judgement of players following the failures of Ngoumou.

Daniel Farke once compared Ngoumou to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Farke signed Ngoumou from Toulouse in the summer of 2022 when he was the manager at Borussia Monchengladbach.

He had massive praise for the player and even drew comparisons with former Arsenal, Dortmund and Barcelona striker Aubameyang.

However, the Frenchman has flattered to deceive and even Farke was shown the door after just one season in June 2023.

Ngoumou has seven goals and four assists in 61 appearances for the German club and has again struggled at the start of the ongoing season.

Farke’s judgement of the player has been slammed and Gladbach are now worried about what use the player has for them this season given his consistently bad performances.

The current Leeds boss has been criticised for vastly overrating the player, which has only complicated the situation for the club.

The winger still has close to three years left on his contract but has continued to struggle to match the hype that Farke created when he signed him two years back.

He is no longer the German’s problem but it does call into question the Leeds manager’s ability to identify players and their overall quality.

The Leeds manager was left frustrated during the last summer transfer window when he was annoyed by the club’s inability to sign players he identified.
