Key Leeds United leadership figure backs Daniel Farke – full confidence for the boss ahead of this summer

Leeds United have sealed the league title on the final day of the season. This comes just over a week after the club confirmed their place in the Premier League next season.

However, the news around the club has caused quite a stir. Reports claimed that Leeds’ ownership were preparing to sack Daniel Farke this summer, and hire a new coach who would take charge in the Premier League. Within all this noise, Farke has been a calm presence focused on winning the Championship.

And he succeeded on Saturday. Leeds had to do it the hard way – the Whites came back from a goal down to win the league. Plymouth took the lead early in the first half, and Wilfried Gnonto levelled the scores early in the second half. Manor Solomon produced a moment of brilliance to win the Championship in the dying minutes.

What is more impressive is that, in the lead up to the game, Leeds players did not allow the news to distract them. In fact, club captian Ethan Ampadu publicly backed Daniel Farke in the lead up to the final game.

“He’s shown in the past he’s got a lot of success,”

“He’s given us advice, he’s given us tips, he’s been there and done it so for us it’s about learning that. He gives everyone that confidence to go and do what we can do.”

The team delivered, winning the trophy and hitting the 100-point mark to cap off an incredible season.

Leeds would be making a mistake sacking Farke

A trophy for the fans, a 100-point season and Premier League promotion is the best possible end to this campaign. Daniel Farke has achieved his goal within just two seasons of being hired. How many managers can boast of such a record? There are not many in the current market.

The club ownership need to be bold and keep the German in charge beyond the summer. He has the backing of the Elland Road faithful as well as the players, sacking him would be a big mistake.
