“I decided to leave because I like playing football too much.” – Mateusz Klich reveals he had the choice to stay

Former Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich reveals he could have stayed at the club in January.

The polish midfielder was speaking for the first time since his transfer away from Leeds, pointing out that the decisions of Marsch was part of the reasons why he left. Klich had played over a 190 games for The Whites, scoring 24 goals in his time at Elland Road

The midfielder failed to start a single game under Jesse Marsch in the Premier League before his departure. Klich says that played a huge part in his decision to leave:

“I certainly could have stayed, but you don’t know how my story with the new coach turned out. I wanted to play a lot. I wasn’t happy playing 10-15 minutes. I wanted to be an important part of the team.

“Despite Leeds’ problems, I was one of the few who didn’t start a single league game. Various ideas began to appear, and finally I decided to take a very difficult and brave step. I decided to leave because I like playing football too much.”

The 32-year old left the club to join MLS side DC United in the January transfer window.
