Leeds United are set to embark on a run of games where they are expected to pick up the maximum points before they take on Sunderland and Sheffield United at the end of February. Leeds boss Daniel Farke insists on consistency in selection and is not a fan of tinkering with his side much. Manor Solomon is the clear first-choice player on the left-hand side of their attack but Leeds will need their squad players to step up from now until the end of the season. Largie Ramazani has shown glimpses of his talent and can play on the left-hand side of the Leeds attack. He has started just seven games this season but dig a little deeper into his performances, there is a case to be made for him to get a few more opportunities in the latter half of the campaign.
Largie Ramazani joined Leeds United in the summer transfer window following the departure of Crysencio Summerville who was the top scorer in the Championship last season.
The Belgian previously played for Manchester United and returned to England last year with a point to prove at Leeds. However, he has yet to light up the Championship in fire and has largely been used as a squad player.
Ramazani has struggled to get into the starting eleven this season with Manor Solomon effectively replacing Wilfried Gnonto in the team in December.
However, the winger has shown in glimpses, why Leeds signed him last season and his goal and assist in the 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month proved enough that he can crack it in the Championship if given more opportunities.
Solomon is the undisputed starter but in Ramazani, Leeds have a player who could step up to the plate if and when needed.
Largie Ramazani is a brilliant finisher of chances, something that Leeds need
Leeds are the top scorers in the league but we could argue that they should have scored even more and should have been miles ahead of their closest promotion rivals Sheffield United and Burnley.
The Whites miss more big chances per game than Sheffield United or Burnley create and that inconsistency in front of goal could come back to haunt them towards the business end of the season.
In a close Championship season, missing chances could be a massive issue and their attacking numbers are not too different from last season when Leeds just finished outside the top two.
Ramazani’s introduction into the team could go a long way into solving that issue of missing guilt-edge opportunities. The winger is probably one of the finest finishers in the Leeds squad.
His expected goals (xG) stand at 2.68 at the moment but he has outperformed that number by actually netting four goals in 18 appearances in the Championship.
Ramazani is also guilty of missing big chances but the winger is scoring more than he should have given the quality of chances he has received this season.
He has positional discipline
The Belgian can play on both flanks but he has largely been used as a left winger when he has started or come on from the bench this season.
Farke has a regimented style of football and is a fan of players who have positional discipline and carry out his tactical instructions diligently.
Ramazani does both when he is on the pitch and is prepared to work his socks off on both ends of the pitch for the team, which is clear from his heat map this season.
Ramazani hugs the left touchline with discipline and helps the team hold their shape properly to ensure that there is consistency in their style of football.
The winger is also prepared to drop back and help his full-back defensively when needed and generally carries out the tactical brief of the coaching staff.
Solomon would be hard to displace given his impact on the team but Ramazani has done enough this season to give Farke another credible option on the left flank.
