Leeds United spent close to £100million in the summer transfer window. Many would think that fee is big enough to overhaul the squad in key areas, but the reality was much different.
A huge part of the budget was spent on a new goalkeeper, defenders and midfielders. Just £18million was spent on a permanent addition to the attack. And this has showed this season as other members of the attacking unit have failed to provide the cutting edge.
But one part of the team failing does not mean the business done was poor. Leeds have been solid in defence, and solid in midfield. Results against Everton and Newcastle proved how well this team could be if their attack was slightly above average.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk had a formidable partnership at the back last season. Then Leeds went out and signed Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, with many thinking one of Rodon or Struijk would move to the bench. But that has not been the case so far, as the duo continue to thrive in the Premier League.
Bornauw had not been seen with the squad since making the bench against Newcastle, and he was missing from the squad to face Fulham. This raised a lot of questions about his whereabouts, but Leeds’ latest training video has revealed he is back on the grass.

Youngster earns surprising call up
Two Leeds youngsters have been in the news this week for different reasons; Harry Gray scored a hat-trick in the National League Cup and Liam Cresswell signed a new contract at Elland Road. There had been questions on if Gray could see first team minutes soon, but Daniel Farke quickly shut them down.
Callum Mills from the Leeds U18 side was also spotted in training this week. It came as a bit of a surprise after Gray and Cresswell dominated the headlines days prior. Mills has been in great form this season, scoring twice and providing two assists in four U18 Premier League games. It looks like the midfielder is definitely on the radar of Daniel Farke.
