Leeds United had a goalkeeping problem this summer. After the events at the end of last season, Daniel Farke wanted the club to sign a new number one.
Illan Meslier was the club’s first choice for most of last season, before his errors started to drop points. Farke made the bold call to bench him for the rest of the season. This lead to rumours that the Frenchman could leave Elland Road this summer.
Leeds then brought in Lyon’s Lucas Perri as number one. It was revealed at the start of the season that Meslier was no part of the club’s plans. Leeds will go with the trio of Perri, Darlow and Cairns this year.

Leeds have been reportedly working hard to offload Illan Meslier, even offering him at a price of £5million in this market. The Frenchman has been linked with moves away, but it seems like he will choose to stay.
A move to Como for Meslier is now off the table as the Italian side are set to wrap up the signing of a new goalkeeper.
🚨🔵 Como have reached an agreement in principle with Swedish GK Noel Törnqvist to join the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Cesc Fabregas’ team is set to sign Noel Tornqvist, who was once a Leeds United target. When Meslier was first linked to Como, there was a suggestion that he would only make the move if he was first choice .

One more door has closed for the Frenchman, who looks more and more likely to stay with the club. It is very unlikely Daniel Farke gives him another chance in the team.
Meslier’s contract runs out next year, so he could just stay and train with the U21s. But considering his age and level, some clubs could be interested in taking him off Leeds’ hands this summer.
