Leeds United boss Daniel Farke and several of the players, barring the World Cup stars, will return for pre-season training this week ahead of the friendlies later this month.
The club have confirmed the departure of Pascal Struijk and are trying to convince Karl Darlow to stay amid interest from Manchester United and Everton.
Leeds are yet to announce a new signing, but have an agreement in place with Harry Wilson to sign him on a free transfer after his contract with Fulham expired at the end of June.
The Welshman was spotted training in Portugal, and Leeds are expected to announce his arrival this week as pre-season training draws closer.
Harry Wilson could make his Leeds debut against his hometown club
The 29-year-old winger has agreed a four-year contract and is going to be one of the top earners at Leeds once he joins the club sometime this week.
Leeds have been chasing him since last year, when he came close to joining the club on deadline day, only for Fulham to pull the plug on the deal with minutes left in the transfer window.
Wilson will fly out for Leeds’ pre-season tour of the United States later this month, and if things go according to plan, he will make his debut against his hometown club Wrexham.
The Welshman was born in Wrexham, but never played for the club at any level. He was just 9 when he joined the Liverpool academy.
Wrexham have catapulted into pop culture due to their successive promotions, and they finished just outside the Championship’s top six last season.
If Wilson is fit and ready, he is almost certain to wear the Leeds shirt for the first time against his hometown club later this month.
He is likely to be a certain starter for Leeds
One of Leeds United’s biggest shortcomings last season was their lack of creativity in matches where they dominated possession.
Daniel Farke built a well-organised side that was difficult to break down and dangerous on the counter, but when opponents dropped deep and invited pressure, Leeds often struggled to find the quality needed to break them down.
That helps explain why the 49ers are so keen to strengthen the squad with players such as Harry Wilson this summer.
He would bring the kind of creativity Leeds have been missing. Farke already has no shortage of industrious, box-to-box midfielders who work tirelessly out of possession, but what his squad lacks are players capable of unlocking packed defences with a decisive pass while also chipping in with goals.
Wilson, in particular, looks well suited to that role. He finished last season with 11 goals and eight assists for a Fulham side that struggled for consistency, an impressive return that suggests he could make an immediate impact at Elland Road.
His versatility is another major asset. Whether deployed on either wing, as a No. 10 or in a more advanced midfield position, Wilson would give Farke greater tactical flexibility and provide Leeds with another genuine source of creativity in the final third.
