Leeds are big but – Jesurun Rak-Sakyi reveals reasons behind rejecting move to Elland Road

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi sprinting energetically down the pitch in a football game, displaying speed and determination.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has revealed why he decided to snub interest from Leeds United to join Sheffield United on loan from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old winger was one of the most wanted players in the Championship last summer when several clubs were interested in getting their hands on the player.

Palace were determined only to accept loan offers and rejected bids from Southampton who wanted to sign the winger on a permanent deal in the summer.

Leeds were amongst several Championship sides who made an offer to sign the winger on loan from the Eagles but accepted to move to Sheffield United on loan for the season after careful consideration.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi reveals reasons behind snubbing Leeds

Leeds were in the market for a winger after Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham and Rak-Sakyi was one of the key targets for the club.

However, they face serious competition from more than half of the Championship in the race to sign him and ultimately they had to concede defeat to their promotion and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

The winger admitted that he was aware of the interest from Leeds but stressed that talks with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder were the clincher.

He revealed that once he spoke with the Blades manager, he decided to move to Bramall Lane on a season-long loan deal

“My agent made me aware of the interest from them and I knew it was a big club”, Rak-Sakyi told The Star.

But the manager here spoke to me and I was really impressed with what he said and the plans he had for me.

“So that made me decide to come here.”

Leeds went on to sign Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon towards the end of the window to strengthen their wide options for this season.

Rak-Sakyi is yet to score or assist a goal in his three appearances for Sheffield United since joining the club.
