The race for survival has been heating up over the last couple of weeks as Leeds United try to chart their path to safety. Daniel Farke has seen a remarkable turn in form from his team since December.
Leeds started the year on a great note, picking up points against Liverpool and Manchester United. They have set themselves in a very good position for the second half of the season; but recently, their rivals started picking up points again. Last week, Leeds losing to the Gunners caused some unrest in the fanbase especially with how West Ham and Nottingham Forest were picking up points.
The transfer window was also a disappointing one for the club; they only managed to bring in one signing on loan – Facundo Buonanotte. Their other major target slipped through their hands as Jorgen Strand Larsen joined Crystal Palace. Meanwhile West Ham and Forest were very active in the window, with the latter securing multiple deals before the deadline passed.
West Ham fans react to Leeds United result
Friday night saw a statement victory for the Whites over Nottingham Forest. This weekend was set to be a pivotal one for the teams at the bottom of the table; Leeds played Forest, while West Ham and Burnley are set to clash on Saturday. The bottom of the table is not set in stone, with a chance for any team to make their way out of the relegation zone. But with the win on Friday night, Leeds are now nine points clear of West Ham.
Hammers fans voiced their opinion on their relegation rivals getting a huge three points:
”Welp leeds ain’t getting dragged in genuinely could be us this year dont see forest going down theres to much Quality…” one fan posted on Twitter/X.
Another West Ham fan wanted the team to reduce Forest’s goal difference: ”More goals please Leeds
”Hammer that Forest goal difference”
”Forest are the team to catch – they’re useless” another user added.
Leeds must continue this form
There was no better way to cap off this week for the Leeds United fans; after the disappointment of the transfer window and the club still reeling from the loss to Arsenal. The 49ers have made a big gamble deciding not to strengthen some areas of the team at the last minute. Now, they have to hope that Daniel Farke continues to pull results like this from the players. The battle for relegation is far from over, but Leeds have made a statement this week.
