Leeds could benefit from former Liverpool manager’s expertise after Red Bull hiring

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp might be making an appearance at Elland Road next year. On Wednesday, it was announced that he will take on a new role as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, starting January 1, 2025.

In January, the German announced that he was leaving Liverpool following the 2023-24 season. After eight and a half years at Anfield, Klopp took time off and rejected managerial positions during this break from the sidelines.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy,” Klopp told the club’s website in January. “I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”

Could Jürgen Klopp interact with Leeds?

Klopp will manage Red Bull’s international network of soccer clubs, focusing on the big picture rather than day-to-day operations. He will offer strategic guidance to help individual sporting directors promote the Red Bull philosophy.

Red Bull might not be the majority owner, but they have a minority stake in the Yorkshire side and are the front kit sponsor, so Klopp could offer his expertise to Leeds.

Additionally, the 57-year-old will assist with the organization’s global scouting efforts and contribute to the training and development of coaches.

“After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” Klopp told Red Bull’s official website. “The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.

“By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal. There are many ways that we can do this from using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries.

“Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking. As I said, this could not excite me more.”
