Leeds United could reportedly decide to cash in on French goalkeeper Illan Meslier this summer.
The 23-year old joined Leeds in 2020 from Lorient and has gone on to make over a 124 appearances for the club. Meslier is currently valued around €22million by Transfermarkt.
GMS journalist Pete O’Rourke says Leeds are seriously considering offloading him if they get relegated:
“It’s a potential exit that could happen, especially if Leeds get relegated. I don’t think Meslier will want to drop down to the Championship after enjoying a couple of years in the Premier League with Leeds.
“They might be forced to balance the books if they suffer relegation. Meslier is probably one of their most sellable assets right now.”
Despite recent criticism of his performances, the frenchman remains highly rated – he has over 20 youth caps for France and was touted as one to eventually replace Hugo Lloris. Chelsea were big fans of Meslier when he was in France, and nearly signed him before he arrived at Elland Road.
Leeds face Leicester on Tuesday night before facing Bournemouth this weekend. Javi Gracia and co will hope they can secure safety over the next month.
