After losing to Burnley last weekend, Leeds United’s matchup against a struggling Cardiff City is a perfect contest to regain their confidence. However, manager Daniel Farke has issued a warning to his squad.
A report this week suggests that Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut could be on the verge of being sacked before the upcoming match against Leeds United. Pressure on Bulut has intensified as senior players have started questioning his training methods.
Despite being at the bottom of the Championship table, Bulut remains confident in his squad. He points out that they’ve been creating scoring chances, even if the results haven’t been coming their way.
“We have to be realistic; the opponents against us, what they create has not been better than us, aside from against Burnley,” Bulut said.
“All of the other games, we had enough chances to lead the game or win, but football is like this. When opponents score and we don’t, and the results are how they have been, then you get pressure.”
Daniel Farke warns his squad about Cardiff City
It’s probably because of this confidence that Farke is warning his squad not to overlook their opponent despite their struggles this season. The Bluebirds also see the Whites as a struggling team entering this contest and look to take advantage.
“I’m thinking that during this week they have tried everything in order to be perfectly prepared,” Farke told Leeds’ official website. “They want to use their home game, especially against Leeds United, spotlight game, to turn things around and for that we have to be even more aware.
“It will be a tough and difficult game for us. So it’s not like they are after five game days in position 24 and they will finish in 24. They will finish in a much, much better position and for that I’m fully aware of the quality of the players.
“I’m fully aware that they are in a situation where they will invest everything and fight. And for that, we have to be even more switched on, I expect a really difficult game for us.”
It will be interesting to see which side secures a win as they look to turn around their current situation.
