Young Leeds United defender Oliver Casey will leave his boyhood club in the coming days ahead of a permanent move to Championship newcomers Blackpool.
The 20-year-old has played just three times for the Whites since he was promoted to the first-team at Elland Road in 2019, with two of those appearances coming this season in cup competitions.
Casey, who is predominantly a centre-back but can also play defensive midfield, will isolate for the next 10 days after returning to England from a holiday abroad before completing a permanent move to the Seasiders.
Blackpool were promoted to the Championship at the end of last month after beating Lincoln City 2-1 in the League One play-off final at Wembley.
They were also victorious in an EFL Trophy game against Leeds United’s Under-21s in November 2020, a game Casey played in as he sat in front of the Whites’ back four.
Despite Blackpool winning the game 3-0, Casey’s performance clearly stood out to the Blackpool hierarchy and he will link up with Neil Critchley’s side before the end of the month.
It’s unknown whether a transfer fee is involved in the move, however Casey did sign a new three-year contract at Elland Road less than a year ago which would point towards some financial reward for Leeds should the deal be completed.
