Leeds United boss Daniel Farke believes Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling will be important to the team this season.

The duo have been loyal servants to the club; Cooper has been at Leeds United since 2014 and Luke Ayling has been around since 2016. Both players are the longest serving among the current squad and are among the captains for this season.

Copper has only started three games this season and has been out injured, while Ayling has been a regular. When asked how Leeds manage the experienced duo, Daniel Farke says they are very important to the team even if they are not on the pitch:

“They are outstanding in this season. Luke has played a lot. Liam, started first game, sacrificed his body to score, out for several weeks. Came in, first game after his injury for 30 minutes at Hull. Now he has to accept he is a sub despite being a natural leader.

Need big personalities and leaders. Yes they expect to play more and it can be a problem, but how they handle it, they know how much I value them and how much I like them being here.”

Earlier this season a report from TEAMTalk said Farke is eager to give Ayling a contract extension. The fullback has been in great form this season and led the team to a great start in the Championship. Leeds sit in third place in the standings.
