Leeds United’s complex pursuit of Bundesliga defender

Bruno Ogbus is emerging as a top defensive prospect.

The defence looked a bit shakey in the 3-3 draw against Portsmouth. The players weren’t bad but they weren’t up to the challenge either which led to such a big scoreline.

In addition to these problems, the club also needs to find reinforcements down the flanks. Jayden Bogle, Junior Firpo and Adam Byram still remain the sole competitors for the full-back roles.

With forward and midfield as the focus, the defence has taken a bit of a smaller role in United’s transfer market strategy this summer. Only two injuries are needed for the collapse of the full-back system at Elland Road.

Hence, getting good and versatile defenders should be a priority for Daniel Farke. With rumours surrounding Maximilian Wöber, getting some defensive reinforcements should be a must for The West Yorkshire outfit.

Amidst this, Swiss talent Bruno Ogbus remains a potential reinforcer for the backline. According to Football Insider, Farke is now also focusing on defence as the summer transfer window deadline draws closer.

Although the defender hasn’t made a single first-team appearance for Freiburg, his potential remains highly discussed with Scout Adam Khan calling him “elite”.

The 18-year-old remains a point of interest at Elland Road as the Swissman can also play as a left-back.

As mentioned, the player’s versatility remains one of the most important attractors for Daniel Farke. He can solve many depth issues at Leeds United, not to mention his future potential.

United will have no worries down the wings with two backups. The 18-year-old’s potential can also lead to The 49ers having one of the best defenders in the Premier League in the future.

Although, one big rock stands in the way of The West Yorkshire outfit. It is good news that the club is also focusing on securing the back but Freiburg is not willing to sell the defender.

This is a big roadblock in the way but Leeds seem keen on having Bruno. Breisgau-Brasilianer consider him a long term asset just like Crystal Palace’s plans for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

Although there are no loan talks here. Securing Ogbus will be an uphill battle for the club but it might reap benefits in the future following the 18-year-old’s full development.
