Leeds Face Uncertainty: Four Key Players Doubtful for Tuesday’s Clash Against Norwich City

Leeds United delivered a solid performance on Saturday, securing a convincing 3-0 victory against fellow Championship side Coventry City at Elland Road. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Whites, as they had to cope with the loss of their captain to injury midway through the match.

Even though Daniel Farke and his team celebrated their second consecutive win, it wasn’t all positive news. Just before halftime, while leading by a goal, Ethan Ampadu had to leave the game due to an injury.

Although the BBC broadcast raised concerns that it could be an ACL injury, journalist Adam Pope shared that it might have been a scare, considering the player’s mood postgame.

“Farke very pleased with the finishing, speed of passing & solidity when out of possession,” Pope wrote on X following the match. “Knee injury for Ampadu who is in pain but positive after game ‘our most important player. We have to wait for the assessment.’”

Leeds players in doubt for Norwich match

Despite Ampadu being in good spirits, the midfielder will likely miss the match against Norwich City since it’s a quick turnaround for the contest on Tuesday night at Carrow Road.

Ahead of the match, the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Lee Sobot reports four players are already in doubt for the game as the Whites’ injury woes continue.

Ampadu, Manor Solomon, Dan James, and Max Wober are all doubtful for this clash as Leeds continue to get within striking distance of the top two spots in the Championship table.

With two attackers sidelined, Farke might tweak his starting lineup. David Norris thinks Piroe is ready to shed his “super-sub” label and earn a spot in Farke’s starting 11, especially with matches coming thick and fast.

The 25-year-old forward has scored three times as a substitute in his last four games, but he’s only made one start in the Championship this season. However, that could change soon, as Leeds gears up for a busy week with matches against Norwich City and Sunderland on the horizon.

“It’s something I’ve spoken about a lot as Piroe keeps delivering as a super sub off the bench, and I like him,” the ex-Leeds midfielder told MOT Leeds News.

“I think he’s a consistent finisher, he makes an impact off the bench and he’s one of the team’s main goal threats. I still back him in the long-term to be a starter, and I believe he’ll eventually get that regular game time and convert the chances Leeds create.”
