Leeds United have been a much better team since switching formations over the last month. However, it is not really the tactics that have lead them down this improved run of form.
From the start of the season, fans thought Daniel Farke was not making the best of the whole squad. Leeds managed to bring in 10 new players during the summer, but early in the season not many of them had the chance to feature. So the Whites played the same group of players for the first few months of the campaign; with the Leeds boss not trusting some players.
But during this run, Farke’s team selection and tactics have drastically improved. He has been relying on some of the players on the fringes of the team for different reasons.
Daniel Farke confirms Leeds United star’s absence
Brenden Aaronson is now in the best form of the season following his return to the lineup, and Leeds fans have seen how good Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw have been these couple of weeks. James Justin has also gotten a run in the team due to the absence of Jayden Bogle.
Daniel Farke confirmed that the right back is not close to a return to training ahead of this weekend:
“It will be more or less the same group of players from last night. Joe had no setback.
“Only one struggling today was Sam Byram. Back issues. Hope to have him available.
“Don’t think Bogle will be a topic. Not back in team training yet.”

Jayden Bogle needs to return to the first team
Justin has been a solid replacement in the last couple of games, but Leeds United need Bogle back in the team. The right back has been one of the club’s best performers this season. The switch to 3-5-2 has allowed him to get more freedom as a right wing back.

Last season even thought he played as a right back, Daniel Farke’s system allowed him total freedom on the right flank. He was able to overlap and get into the box to get on the end of things. This season, even though his numbers are down, he has been able to contribute a lot in the build-up and is key higher up the pitch.
